Gallagher Bassett builds awareness for mental health through video games

Gallagher Bassett (GB) is proud to be sponsoring The CheckPoint Series, which aims to raise awareness of mental health issues and help those affected through the use of video games.

CheckPoint is a non-profit organisation run by game industry and mental health professionals. They work together to deliver mental health resources through stimulating video games. CheckPoint’s vision is to create a platform where people around the world can feel connected and utilise these games to help overcome their mental health concerns.

Throughout two seasons of webisodes, the series will explore a range of mental health issues, provide insight from those that have experienced these struggles, as well as discuss the use of video games for wellbeing and resilience.

The first episode will premiere on the 29th of January and will focus on depression, anxiety, personality disorders, eating disorders, drugs and wellbeing. Episodes can be viewed through YouTube, Stream, or the CheckPoint website.

30-50% of people experience some form of mental health problem during their lifetime, but only 1/3 of those impacted by these problems reach out for help. The checkpoint series aims to raise awareness of the treatability of mental health issues, and remind those experiencing mental health conditions that they do not need to go through this journey unsupported.

GB’s Executive Director of Marketing and Communications, Drew Spilsbury is delighted that GB is supporting such a worthwhile project and organisation.

‘‘GB is constantly looking for new and creative approaches to help clients promote better mental health at work. We’re really excited to be supporting an initiative that aims to address this challenge through engaging new technology’’ he said.
